Supplements That Support Hormonal Balance

Small consistent changes leads to results over time

Depending on your particular symptoms and life circumstances you may need or want to use a variety of products to help balance your hormones, lose weight, improve sleep and have more energy. Depending on your past medical history you might benefit from supplements like berberine for insulin resistance, zinc and selenium to support the thyroid or magnesium to help relax tight muscles, help with constipation and improve quality of sleep. I work with the company, Pure Encapsulations to provide high quality supplements to fit your needs.

I have also found that a ketogenic diet/intermittent fasting is one of the best ways to balance hormones. I know this diet is not for everyone but if you have considered it, just know it does not have to be as complicated as you think. Many people struggle on a ketogenic diet because they focus on eating mostly meat and cheese products. In reality we you need to fill your plate with mostly vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, celery, cucumbers etc and when possible buy local and organic.

Intermittent fasting can also feel overwhelming when you get started. The goal is to spend 16 hrs a day without spiking your insulin. So generally speaking that means you will only drink water during that 16 hours. If you want to try this, I suggest you are start by moving back the time you eat breakfast by one hour. For example, if you normally eat your first meal at 7am and your last mean at 6pm begin to move your breakfast time to 8 am and make sure you do not snack after dinner. Once you have done this for one to two weeks and it feels comfortable, start eating the first meal at 9 am. The goal is to eat all your food for the day during an eight hour window. If you want to be done eating at 8 pm your first meal will be at noon. If the last meal of the day is over at 7 pm your first meal will be at 11 am. Tailor the schedule so it works for you and your families needs. Be reasonable and kind to yourself. Don’t feel like you have to fast everyday. Some days fasting makes sense. Other days it doesn’t. The goal is to make reasonable changes that create balance in your life. When we make extreme, sweeping changes all at once (focus on intensity) it does not lead to change or results. The tendency is to snap back the other direction and no gains are made. Small frequent changes, although they may not feel like a lot at the time, will lead to results. Focus on consistency.
If you find fasting difficult I would suggest another supplement I personally use called, Pruvit Ketones. They are exogenous (made outside the body) ketones that puts the body into a fat burning state within one hour of drinking them. They taste delicious and support fasting, when you drink them they do not spike your insulin level or break your fast. I drink ketones in the morning instead of eating breakfast but they are also good to drink before a workout. I find that they have helped me lose weight, have more energy and sleep better. Pruvit has recently released a line of pre-prepared foods. If ease and convenience is a priority for you the ketones as well as the prepared meals might be just what you need!
